Salinas Police warn about motorized bicycles lacking proper equipment

Salinas Police are warning about motorized bicycles on the roadways.

Traffic officers recently stopped a motorized bicycle operating illegally and lacking the required equipment.

According to police, to legally operate a motorized bicycle on public streets, the bike needs to have a brake light, mirror, and an adequate muffler meeting noise limit requirements.

The operator must also have a motorcycle endorsed driver’s license and be wearing a DOT approved helmet.

Police encourage all riders to follow the rules of the road!
