Police issue update, search for suspects after San Bruno mall shooting
Police in San Bruno released new details about Tuesday’s shooting at the Shops at Tanforan mall.
Officers responded to reports of gunshots just before 4 p.m. and began evacuating hundreds of shoppers.
Police found the two male teenage victims on the second floor of the mall. One had a gunshot wound to the abdomen and another had a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers started treating the teens at the scene, and by 4:22 p.m. both were evacuated and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Witnesses described the suspects and where they went to officers, and multiple teams were deployed to search the area, but the shooters and their weapons were not found.
San Bruno police said evidence shows there were two groups who had a dispute on the second floor of the mall. They said it escalated and one person from each group started to shoot at each other. They do not think this was random. The victims may be associated with the groups involved in the dispute.
Officers are continuing to investigate and collect evidence.
