Scottish man accused of faking his death may have escaped to Mexico

The Daily Record reports that a Scottish man accused of faking his own death at Monastery Beach may have escaped to Mexico.

Kim Gordon, who the Daily Record calls Kim Avis, was facing 21 sexual assault charges in Scotland, including five rapes.

Gordon’s son 17-year-old son, Ruben, says the last he heard from his father, he had made his way to Mexico.

On Feb. 25, Ruben reported his father missing, saying he had trouble in the water. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office later said they believe he faked his death.

In March, Scottish law enforcement issued an arrest warrant for Gordon after he did not appear in court.

Gordon put his Inverness home up for sale before coming to California, and it has since sold.
