Salinas softball coach sentenced to 8 years in prison for child molestation
A Salinas softball coach was sentenced to eight years in prison for committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14.
In 2018, 20-year-old Madison Perez Nott from Watsonville was the head coach of a Salinas all-female softball team for minors. The victim was a player on the team and under 14 years old.
The victim reported that she had a sexual relationship with Nott between September and November 2018. She said the contact happened when Nott met with her after practice or team-building events. When interviewed by a detective, Nott admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the girl.
In addition to her prison sentence, Nott will be required to register as a sex offender for life. She was also ordered to not have any contact with the victim for the next 10 years.
During the sentencing, the judge pointed out that parents trust coaches to protect their children, and said Nott took advantage of that position and “prioritized her sexual desires above the well-being of one of the children that was placed in her care.”
