Brush fire burns 25 acres near shopping center, apartment complex
UPDATED 10:40 p.m. 6/15/19:
The brush fire still smoldering Saturday night that burned 25 acres of an open field on Constitution Blvd in Salinas.
Bulldozers are putting lines around the area to prevent it from reigniting.
The battalion chief in charge of the fire fight calls it ‘suspicious.’
The fire triggered a temporary evacuation that has since been lifted. Constitution Blvd is open again after being temporarily blocked off.

A vegetation fire blackened a field on Constitution Blvd near a Salinas shopping center caused evacuations at a nearby apartment complex.
Flames sent smoke billowing into the air that could be seen all the way from Highway 101.
The fire burned through brush in a field between the Constitution Soccer Complex and Creekbridge Fittness.
Salinas Police say the fire broke out around 3:20 p.m. and about an hour later residents at an apartment complex near Creekbridge Fitness say they were evacuated.
No word on what caused the fire.
