Children’s pop-up museum opens in Salinas

The MY Town Pop-up Children’s Museum will open tonight with an event held at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB)’s Salinas Center.

The free event will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is open to the public. It will include activities such as a story-time led that will be led by elected officials, music, face painting and art workshops. There will also be free food.

CSUMB psychology and environmental studies students will collect and analyze data throughout the course of the exhibition’s run to determine its success rate. The exhibition is set to run through July 21. The Monterey County Youth Museum Organizers hope to take the exhibition to other locations if it is a success.

The Transportation Agency for Monterey County, First 5 Monterey, Salinas Public Library, Hijos del Sol Arts Productions also partnered with the CSUMB Salinas Center for Arts and Culture and the Monterey County Youth Museum to create the museum.
