Marina residents react to report suggesting overall crime is down in the city

The Marina Police Department’s report on crime in the city suggests overall crime is trending downward when looking at the last five years.

Reports of violent crime in particular–including homicide, sexual assault, commercial/residential burglary–has seen a drop, especially when comparing 2017 to 2018.

Larceny/theft of personal property has even seen a drop, despite reports still coming in each year in the hundreds.

“Our family moved here in 1968 and we’ve never had a problem here,” says Marina resident Gabriel Rios.

We’ll hear more from Gabriel and other residents about whether they feel safe or not in Marina during a live report with Victor Guzman this morning on Wake Up.
