Boulder Creek man accused of starting Bear Fire sentenced
A Boulder Creek man accused of starting the Bear Fire was sentenced Thursday.
The Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office says Marlon Coy was sentenced to 27 years and 4 months in prison. He will also have to pay a restitution of $2.7 million.
The Bear Fire burned nearly 400 acres in the Santa Cruz mountains. Authorities believe he started it on October 16, 2017 after a dispute with someone at a home on Dianes Way.
