Madera man pleads guilty to molesting child while visiting Monterey County
A 23-year-old Madera man is facing up to four years in prison after pleading guilty to child molestation charges.
Jacob Mendez was a famly member of John Doe, who was a minor at the time of the incident. Mendez was visiting from out of town and staying with Doe and his family.
The victim said that one night, Mendez laid down next to him on a matress and started touching his body over his clothes. Doe told Mendez to stop, and Mendez admitted that he knew what he was doing was wrong beause Doe was a minor. He stopped touching Doe and left the room.
Later that night, after Doe had fallen asleep, he woke back up to Mendez sexually assaulting him under Doe’s clothes.
Mendez was charged with committing assault with the intent to commit sexual penetration and annoying or molesting a minor under the age of 18. He is facing up to four years in prison, and he will be required to register as a sex offender for life. His sentencing is scheduled for June 18.
