Hwy 1 in Santa Cruz to shut down for street light repairs
Commuters in Santa Cruz might have their usual route to work impacted by some traffic signal work that needs to be done at a busy intersection on the West side of the city.
Highway One at Bay Street will see those lights reestablished, however traffic will have to be detoured onto Bay Street while crews complete the work.
That work is expected to start Tuesday morning at around 9 a.m. and last until 5 p.m.
Caltrans says a recent traffic collision damaged a traffic light near the area of Bay and Mission Street, resulting in the signals to be put out of service.
Drivers have been treating the intersection as a four-way stop in the meantime.
Heavy rainfall might delay when this project starts. Wednesday would be the alternative date for Caltrans to complete the necessary work.
