CENTRAL COASTING: Teen raising money for Jacob’s Heart through 4-H after beating cancer
Aromas 4-H club member, Andrew Perez, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at the age of 14. He’s now cancer free, but beating cancer isn’t the only remarkable thing he’s done.
Before being diagnosed, Perez was focusing on raising money for college through 4-H.
He was able to raise thousands for himself, but after going through treatment his purpose for raising money quickly changed.
During chemotherapy Perez’s family was helped by the organization Jacob’s Heart.
He realized helping others going through what he has is something he needed to do.
Perez raised more than $50,000 last year and has now set a goal to raise another $50,000.
His message to other kids going through treatment, is “stay strong, it’s going to be tough, but you can do it.”
