Evacuations after natural gas leak outside King City

UPDATE (9:18 p.m.): All roads are back open and Cal Fire says the gas line hazard is “mitigated.” They are now allowing people to go back to their homes.

Evacuations happened Saturday afternoon after what the California Highway Patrol called a “major natural gas leak” outside King City, Saturday afternoon.

Six buildings were evacuated, and Cal Fire tells KION that about 20 residents have been evacuated.

It started when a vehicle drove into a home on Enfield Road and ruptured a gas line.

Pine Canyon Road is shut down, beginning at Jolon Road, for an unknown amount of time.

Cal Fire says that there are injuries from the accident, but there is no update on who was injured and how severe the injuries are.

Power lines were also damaged. Crews on scene called Pacific Gas & Electric to arrive and turn off the gas.
