Head Start employees notified about potential layoffs as funding not clear

Head Start and Early Head Start employees have received notice, there is potential for layoffs should the coming school years’ funding not be enough.

The Monterey County Office of Education says they are required to re-apply for funding to allow the grant funded federal program to stay fully staffed.

This happens every few years, and these notifications are sent to employees when it does happen.

Those who have received a notification are still employed. But come July 1st when the new contract starts, there may be layoffs depending on the amount of funding granted.
