Arrest in 2017 Salinas shooting
An arrest has been made in a Salinas shooting that took place more than two years ago. The Salinas Police Department says that they tracked Neil Aguillon, 19, to Modesto. Modesto Police took him into custody without incident, Saturday.
Aguillon is accused of attempted murder for an incident on February 12, 2017 on the 100 block of Orchard Avenue. SPD says Aguillon was one of four gunman who shot two people as they parked their car. The 20 and 49-year-old victims were hit multiple times and were transported to a local hospital. They have since recovered. The suspects’ vehicle broke down in the middle of the street, but they were able to flee on foot. Aguillon was a juvenile at the time of the shooting.
Salinas Police said that this investigation also led to a federal indictment of another Salinas resident, Kristopher Purcell, 20. Purcell is facing multiple racketeering related charges; racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to murder in aid of racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering, use of a firearm causing murder, attempted murder in aid of racketeering, assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, use of a firearm during and in relation to, or possession in furtherance of a crime of violence. Purcell is accused of murder in a February 11, 2017 shooting near Fremont Street and North Hebbron Street. Salinas resident John Rodzach was killed.
