Greenfield police remind vendors to get permits ahead of Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday, and for business owners and vendors selling flowers and gifts, that often means setting up booths. Ahead of the day, Greenfield police have issued a reminder to get permits to set up those booths.

They say anyone who sets up a table or booth on private property to sell items any time needs a special permit. It requires approval from the property owner, a valid business license, a permit fee and a sign off from the city on the location and duration.

Once it is approved, there are some other requirements to be aware of. Tables and booths should not block any public sidewalk, private property, intersections or driveways, and the vendors should have their permits with them the entire time they are selling.

Mobile vendors have slightly different requirements. Police say they need to keep moving and not station themselves at one location or set up on private property.

On Mother’s Day and the time leading up to it, officers will be looking out for unpermitted vending. Those in violation could get a citation or have their merchandise confiscated.

If you have any questions, Greenfield police say you can call City Hall at 831-674-5591.
