November 2018 wildfires become most expensive in California history
November wildfires in California are now the most expensive in state history, with insurance claims topping out at $12 billion.
Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara released the numbers Wednesday. They cover the Camp Fire that destroyed the town of Paradise and two Southern California fires.
The amount of wildfire destruction makes it more difficult and expensive for people to get homeowners insurance in the state.
Before last November, fires in late 2017 had been the most expensive at $11.8 billion.
