Man arrested after allegedly throwing rocks at cars on Highway 152

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of throwing rocks at cars driving along Highway 152.

In its initial report, deputies say Jeremy Valdez tried to run from law enforcement officials when they arrived on scene.

He was eventualy tracked down in a large field and brought into custody.

Witnesses were also able to help in the arrest, many of them also victims after allegedly having their cars struck by rocks thrown by Valdez.

Valdez faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, multiple felony vandalism charges and a delaying and resisting arrest charge.

CHP Salinas is investigating whether the acts of vandalism they’ve been investigating for the last few months are related to the Valdez arrest.

“We are taking into consideration, is he our suspect?” CHP officer Jessica Madueno said. “However, that’s something our investigators are looking into and working on at this time.”
