Sword-wielding man arrested at Santa Barbara County McDonald’s

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man after he allegedly pulled out a replica samurai sword during a fight at a local McDonald’s.

At around 8:20 Tuesday night, deputies responded to a call about a suspect armed with a samurai sword in Goleta. He allegedly got into a verbal dispute with another man in front of a McDonald’s. They say he threated the man and pulled out the samurai sword.

The suspect left as deputies were responding, so the Sheriff’s Office along with CHP officers issued a shelter in place notification and secured a perimeter. Amtrak train service was also temporarily stopped because it was nearby.

At around 10:15 p.m., a deputy found the suspect ,and he was arrested at gunpoint. The Sheriff’s Office identifies him as King Rosario, 38, of Goleta. They say the sword turned out to be a wooden replica.

Rosario was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of brandishing and possessing a deadly weapon.
