Salinas fraud suspect arrested after more victims come forward
A Salinas man wanted on multiple fraud charges related to a Craigslist rental scam and for representing himself as an immigration attorney has been arrested.
Gerardo Gabriel Castillo, 39, was arrested in Merced. He is facing at least thirty felony counts because more victims have come forward.
Castillo was initially arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail in March for allegedly using Craigslist to conduct a rental scam. He bailed out the day after he was booked.
After he was released, five more victims came forward to report that they were victims of a Craigslist rental scam conducted by Castillo. After that, police were unable to find him.
