Monterey County releases drafts of Short Term Rental regulations

Monterey County officials released details Monday on plans to regulate vacation rentals in the unincorporated areas of the County.

The proposed ordinances would amend county code to establish regulations, standards, and circumstances under which vacation rentals may be allowed.

The draft ordinances apply to Homestays (defined as a vacation property where the owner lives fulltime while renting to visitors), Limited Short-term rentals, and commercial short-term rental properties.

Copies of three draft ordinances and environmental analysis are posted online ( click here ).

Copies are also available at the Resource Management Agency offices at 1441 Schilling Place in Salinas.
