Second suspect arrested for murder of Monterey doctor
A second arrest has been made for the murder of Dr. Thomas Burchard, according to our sister stations in Sacramento and Las Vegas.
Clark County Jail records show that Diana Nicole Pena was taken into custody Saturday. She is being charged with open murder and conspiracy to commit murder. According to Las Vegas Justice Court records, she has a status check scheduled for Tuesday.
She is one of two suspects investigators have been looking for. The other is Jon Logan Kennison. The declaration of warrants for them says that both of their fingerprints were found in the car in which Burchard’s body was found.
Kelsey Turner is also in custody and charged with open murder in connection with Burchard’s death. Her attorney says she is pleading not guilty.
On March 7, Burchard’s body was found in the trunk of a car in the desert outside Las Vegas. On March 21, Turner was arrested for the murder. On Friday, she was moved from the San Joaquin County Jail, where she was being held, to the Clark County Jail. She appeared in court Saturday and her preliminary hearing has been set for June 3.
Burchard was a psychiatrist who lived and practiced in Monterey County.
