19 year old male shot multiple times in Salinas

Salinas Police confirm a 19-year-old male was shot multiple times Sunday evening in the area of Garner Avenue and Williams Road.

Police received a ShotSpotter notification in that area around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

They also received a 9-1-1 call reporting a male had been shot multiple times around that location.

When police got to the scene they located a 19-year-old with two apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim in the shooting says he was driving in the area of Garner Avenue and Williams Road when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot twice in the shoulder blade area.

Police say the male suffered from injuries that “appeared non life-threatening,” and was transported to Natividad for treatment.

The victim’s vehicle was struck several times and police were able to locate shell casings at the scene.

At this time the suspect’s description, as well as the type of vehicle the suspect was driving, is unknown. Salinas Police say no other gunshot victims were located in the area and no other structures were damaged as a result of the gunfire.

The suspect in this investigation is still on the loose and Salinas Police are urging anyone who has information about the shooting to provide that info to police by calling 831-758-7321.
