Felon arrested for sexually assaulting disabled woman in Monterey County

A previously deported felon and unregistered sex offender has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a disabled woman.

Deputies with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report last week in southern Monterey County. During an investigation, they found that the woman had been sexually assaulted by an aquaintence.

They identified the suspect as 60-year-old Roberto Cabrel Salazar of Delhi. Tuesday investigators went to his home in Merced County where he was found and arrested.

Salazar was then interviewed and driven back to Monterey County to be booked into jail. He is facing several charges related to the assault. A bail enhancement was granted because of the nature of the offences, so his bail is set at $1 million.

If you have any information about the investigation, you’re asked to call Detective Rosy Silva at 831-755-3818 or Det. Sgt. Bryan Hoskins at 831-755-3773.
