Parents of man killed in hit-and-run speak out

Bob and Sue Hunt traveled to Monterey just days after learning their 25-year-old son, Joseph Hunt, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident near Moss Landing.

” Joe was a wonderful, wonderful human being, ” said Bob Hunt, Joseph’s father.

A California Highway Patrol officer found Joseph’s body Saturday morning, off Highway 1. CHP said his injuries showed he had been hit by a car, but when they arrived there was no sign of the driver.

” He was left there basically overnight, on the side of the road, from the time he was hit to the time he was found. That should not happen to anybody, ” said Bob.

Joseph’s parents said their son was a free spirit. They said he chose to live outside in Monterey, year-round.

Joseph’s friends said he told them everything. ” He didn’t let me know that he was leaving. I don’t think he was trying to leave. He would’ve let me know, I think, ” said William ” Dinosaur ” Work, Joseph’s close friend.

Why Joseph randomly decided to travel North is still unknown, along with the identity of the driver who killed him. ” That’s the killer out of all of this. We don’t know who did it and someone is out there that hit our son. They know they did it and probably people know they did it, as well, ” said Bob.

Joseph’s parents said they want to get the word out about their son and hope someone will come forward about what happened.

” He was a great, great kid. It’s just terrible that his life was so short, ” said Bob.
