Rockslides, downed wires cause Hwy 9 closure in Santa Cruz Mountains

Rockslides and downed powerlines have caused the closure of Highway 9 in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, two hard closures are in place in the San Lorenzo Valley Tuesday afternoon.

Highway 9 between Clear Creek and Pacific Street in Brookdale is currenlty closed for both north and southbound traffic.

Highway 236 is also closed to all through traffic at Jamison Creek Road.

Caltrans officials estimate to reopen the road around 6 p.m.
