Southern California community mourns girl found slain
Mourners have gathered in a Los Angeles suburb at a memorial service for a 9-year-old girl whose body was found this month stuffed in a duffel bag along an equestrian trail in the community.
The service for little Trinity Love Jones is being held Monday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Heights, a community that embraced the child in death during the days she remained unidentified.
A park worker found Trinity on March 5. She was clad in pants with a panda pattern and a pink shirt that said “Future Princess Hero.”
A huge memorial sprang up at the site as community members heard about the case.
She was identified the following weekend and prosecutors have since filed murder charges against her mother and the mother’s boyfriend.
