KLAS Las Vegas: CHOMP psychiatrist found killed near Las Vegas
CBS KLAS in Las Vegas reports 71-year-old Dr. Thomas Burchard of Salinas was found dead at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Police are calling the case a homicide.
Metro Police were called out just before 11:00 a.m on March 7 to a suspicious vehicle off State Route 147. There they found the car with a broken window and his body inside.
His body was identified this week.
Coroners say he died from a blunt force injury to the head.
Dr. Burchard was a psychiatrist at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula specializing in child psychiatry.
Mary Barker, the Chief Communications Officer for Montage Health, who operates CHOMP, sent us this statement, Saturday night:
“He was a longstanding physician in the community and in our behavioral health program who was very helpful to many of his patients. It’s a very sad situation, and our hearts go out to his family.”
This is a developing story.
