Suspect kicks dog, stabs man in Salinas

A man was arrested for kicking a dog and stabbing a man on a street in Salinas.

The incident happened in the 100 block of Soledad Street around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, the suspect, 50-year-old Mark Cruz got in an argument with a woman and kicked her dog.

A 20-year-old man yelled from across the street in an attempt to stop the fight. Cruz reportedly walked over, pulled a knife out and stabbed the man in the left rib cage area.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Natividad Hospital.

Cruz was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on attempted murder and violation of probation charges.
