Castroville man dies in Hwy 1 crash
A Castroville man was killed in a two car crash on Highway 1.
The deadly accident happened around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at an intersection north of Highway 183.
The California Highway Patrol said a 2002 Honda Civic went head on into a 1996 Toyota Camry.
“The driver of the Honda allowed his vehicle to cross into the southbound traffic lane,” CHP said in a written statement.
The driver of the Camry, a 56-year-old Watsonivlle resident and her passenger were taken to the hospital for moderate injuries. The 19-year-old driver of the Civic was taken to Natividad Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
CHP said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision.
