Authorities investigate circumstances surrounding drowning in Bay Area
Authorities are looking for more information regarding the drowning of a man in the Bay Area.
Deputies with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to Pigeon Point in Pescadero because a man was heard calling for help in the ocean. The drowning happened around 4:47 a.m. Feb 25.
The victim, Jeffrey Young, 30, was spotted in the water about 30 yards from the shore.
“The man was unconscious and not breathing,” said the San Mateo Sheriff’s Office.
First responders were unable to revive Young.
Young was originally from Texas but moved to California about three years ago. He lived in Southern California and frequently visited the Santa Cruz area.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Young’s death. Investigators believe he may have been in Santa Cruz County with friends before he died.
