Man arrested after police chase in Hollister
A man is behind bars after a police chase in Hollister.
Hollister Police said 27-year-old Johnny Ciccotti led officers on a chase through residential streets and the downtown area. It ended near Sally and Maple Streets when Ciccotti jumped out of the moving car and took off on foot.
The car then crashed into a curb and tree.
Officers used a K-9 to search a neighborhood and Ciccotti was found hiding in a car in the backyard of a home.
He was arrested and a handgun was found on the street.
The gun was reported stolen from Alameda County. Ciccotti is on parole from the same county and officers suspect the car was also stolen.
Ciccotti is now facing several charges including felony evading and possession of a firearm.
Hollister Police gave a special thanks to the resident who came forward to report the firearm to officers. The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office also helped with the arrest.
