Horses galloping in the snow
Tourists in northwest China’s Zhaosu County in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, witnessed a splendid scene of tens of thousands of horses galloping in a snowy grassland during this past Sunday and Monday.
Although temperatures in south China cities have already begun to rise and flowers are blooming, in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the land is still covered by a thick layer of snow. Many tourists come here specifically for ice and snow tours, of which the most gorgeous scene, mentioned above, is a must-see item.
Zhaosu County is dubbed by Chinese people as the “Home to Horses from Heaven”. Normally, these horses are fed in stables. But herdsmen occasionally release them to run on the vast grassland to exercise their bodies, which has gradually become one of the main attractions for tourists.
In winter, the local government regularly gathers these horses together to form a grand scene the majestic creatures thundering across the grassland. This was the third time such a spectacular show was organized by the local government this winter. Tourists were so excited that they even used drones to capture the wonderful moment.
“Yes. I just took aerial shots of the scene. It was so magnificent. The horses running on the snowfield looked just like fishes swimming in water, both following a steady rhythm. It was the first time I took such great photos, these were better than those I had taken with my camera,” said Shan Baojiu, a photographer.
