Carmel Public Works Director taken off leave following inappropriate e-mail
Carmel-by-the-Sea City Manager Chip Rerig confirmed with KION that his Public Works Director Bob Harary is back to work Wednesday.
Harary was promptly placed on paid-administrative leave February 11, following an e-mail response to a resident angry about the cities handling and preparation for storms:
“Dear Nameless Bafoon,
We suggest that you go to a proctologist who may have a chance of extracting your entire head out of your anus.

Carmel Public Works.”
Rerig tells KION, after a week-long investigation he decided that Harary is a necessary part of the city staff and although his comments were not appropriate, his suspension is over. Rerig said his public works director apologized for the comments.
The City Manager said he plans to add more communication workshops for the city staff in the future.
Last week Rerig also sent an apology to the Carmel Highlands Resident
