Chinatown woman gets maximum sentence for human trafficking in Salinas
UPDATE: 2/19/2019 12:19 p.m. A Salinas woman was sentenced to 12 years in state prison for human trafficking.
According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, 44-year-old Regina Budiao persuaded a 16-year-old runaway to engage in a commercial sex act.
The DA’s office said the victim was living in Burdiao’s tent in the “Chinatown” area of Salinas when the incidents occured back in March of 2018.
The victim was reportedly given drugs and alcohol and was encouraged to earn money to support her drug habbit.
Budiao was sentenced the maximum penalty and ordered to register as a sexual offender for the rest of her life.

The DA’s office said the victim was living in Burdiao’s tent in the “Chinatown” area of Salinas when the incidents occured back in March of 2018.
Budiao is scheduled to appear in court on February 15, 2019. She faces a maximum of 12 years in prison. She will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
