Surveillance video shows hit-run driver strike young girl in Santa Rosa
CBS SF- Police in Santa Rosa want you to take a good look at a home-security video clip of a hit-and-run collision involving a 7-year-old girl.
The girl was struck Saturday evening at around 5:00 p.m. as she was crossing Louis Krohn Dr., south of Highway 12, by a black, 2-door sedan, possibly a Mercedes or BMW.
A rooftop surveillance camera caught the disturbing incident showing three young children bolt across the street. The car slams into 7-year old Hazel Conzet, knocking her into the air and several feet forward. She lands on her back, gets up and runs off, screaming at the driver.
The video shows the dark 2-door sedan pausing briefly, but then taking off. Santa Rosa Police now say they have opened a hit-and-run investigation and are asking the public’s help to find the driver.
Hazel has scrapes and bruises, but otherwise is doing just fine, said her mother, Candace Conzet.
“I runned and them ‘BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM!'” said Hazel, describing the crash.
“I think it scared her more than anything,” said Candace, who said she is determined to bring the driver to justice.
“I’m angry,” she said. “I really hope somebody finds this guy.”
The driver was described as a light-skinned male with a beard, according to Santa Rosa police.
If you think you know who owns or was driving the car, call the Santa Rosa police at (707) 543-3600. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance “Take Back Our Community Program” for information leading to an arrest.
