Nearly 8,000 people are without power in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

According to Pacific Gas and Electric, 7,985 customers are experiencing a power outage in the Felton area.

The outage was reported around 3 p.m. Monday.

PG&E crews are assessing the cause. A restoration time has not been determined.

Scotts Valley police said Lockewood Lane is closed from the 400 block until Estrella Drive due to power lines down in the roadway. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
