Weather related problems continue, as another storm brings more rain to the Central Coast.
Early Thursday morning, the CHP closed onramps to northbound Highway 17 in Santa Cruz, after a tree fell onto a semi near Pasatiempo Road. The highway was reopened just before 6:00 a.m..
Southbound traffic on 17 was reduced to one lane at Sugarloaf Road near Scotts Valley, due to a landslide.
According to Zayante Fire Protection District, a hard closure was in place just north of West Drive across from Lompico Road due to a downed tree on wires.
Power outages were widespread Thursday morning. PG&E reported 2,764 customers without power in Felton and Bonny Doon. Another 937 were affected in the Highway 9 corridor near San Lorenzo Park, and 725 in the La Selva Beach area.
Other outages included: Carmel and Pebble Beach (196), Del Monte Forest (558), and Carmel Highlands (210).
Rain is also filling local rivers. At 7:15 Thursday morning, the National Weather Service forecast minor flooding along the Carmel River at Robles del Rio. In Santa Cruz County, officials are watching the San Lorenzo River, which has risen at least seven feet in the last three days.
