Aptos neighborhood left flooded after days of storm
Massive amounts of flooding nearly drowned an entire Aptos neighborhood, this week.
Sidewalks, driveways, and gardens were left under inches of water. Signs warning drivers and pedestrians of the flooding were set up along the streets.
Those that work and live in the area, have begun to see it as “normal,” after several storms this winter.
“People put out sandbags to protect their houses. There has been a lot of damage from floods. Even the waves hit the seawall, here. It gets pretty bad,” said Aptos resident, Alex Fowler.
Other residents said the flooding, itself, isn’t even the the biggest problem. Residents said people love to drive fast through the massive puddles, which in turn, splashes up water into their homes. This has lead to major water damage inside homes in the area.
Homeowners line their doorways with sandbags in preparation for this, and plan to continue to do so with more rain on the way.
