Thousands without power in Monterey County

Thousands of people are currently without power in Monterey County.

According to Pacific Gas and Electric, an outage is affecting 3,014 customers in Carmel Valley as of 11:01 a.m. Wednesday.

PG&E said the cause of the outage is an equipment issue. There is no estimated time for restoration.

There are several other major outages near Carmel-By-The-Sea, Monterey and Pacific Grove affecting more than 5,000 customers. The cause of those outages are being investigated.

The city of Monterey said power outages have affected downtown traffic signals at Fremont/Aguajito, Fremont/Camino El Estero and Munras/Webster.
