UPDATE: Missing Marina man found safe

UPDATE 1/31/19 9:26 p.m.: A missing Marina man has been found safe.

Marina Police said he was found by California Highway Patrol and reunited with his family.

Marina Police are looking for a missing man with Alzheimer’s.

Police said he’s considered at-risk. He suffers from the disease and has difficulty communicating and talking.

61-year-old John Makarevich left his home on Crescent Avenue on Thursday, January 31st after 3 p.m. to go for a walk. He was last seen wearing a thick green windbreaker jacket with a brown hat in fedora style.

According to police, Makarevich had been reported missing before this in October 2018. He was later found wandering an area north of the city of Marina.

Makarevich has a tracking device on him, but his family somehow lost communication with it.

Police said around 6:15 p.m. there was an unconfirmed reported sighting of someone matching his description on River Road south of Highway 68, but Makarevich still hasn’t been found.

He has been known to visit Starbucks, Target and Walmart.
