Inmates found with meth at Monterey County Jail

Two inmates are facing felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in Jail charges after being found with meth.

Inmates 40-year-old Sang Quoc Tran and 45-year-old John Melendez were found with the drug yesterday.

Tran is in custody for making criminal threats and obstructing an officer among other charges.

Melendez has gun and drug related charges.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s office says possession in jail is taken seriously because it’s a threat to the health and security of inmates.
