Father, son find human remains on Xmas day in Salinas
UPDATE (12.27.18 6:30 pm): A father and son discovered the remains of a body as they went to retrieve a drone they crashed in Monterey County.
“We went over looking it, found it in the tree, looked down and saw human bones,” said the father.
According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, the body was found Tuesday near San Benancio Road in Salinas.
The father says they called police at around 2 p.m. right after they made the discovery. The father and son told authorities they saw a skeleton with clothing.
“Yeah, maybe it was a blessing in disguise finding it, leading us to that spot,” said the father.
Deputies told KION the remains are of an adult and have been there for at least a couple of months.
The sheriff’s office said it could take weeks to identify the remains and find the cause of death.
