Central Coast residents react to new Jordan Peele movie ‘Us’

One of the hottest directors in Hollywood has released his newest horror film that has Central Coast residents buzzing.

Director Jordan Peele, mostly known for his first movie ‘Get Out’ released the trailer for his newest movie ‘Us.’

Much of the film was shot in Santa Cruz County.

Resident’s KION spoke with excited that their beach town is getting some worldwide recognition. “I grew up here and I think it is a hidden gem, and LA is not the only place where you can have all of these elements.”

Resident Ali Keller agrees, “I definitely think this is a great place, plus the boardwalk, there is so much you can do with the beach and the actual carnival setting that it is definitely ideal for movie making.”

KION’s cameras were rolling as production crews were out on East Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz back in September for part of the movie. Resident’s in the area say it’s something they won’t soon forget, “they had a dead body over here, and one over there and down that street there, they were all over the place it was cool,” says Bob Barton.

The movie is set to be released in March of 2019.

In a recent interview with press, Peele said the movie is a new twist on horror, signifying ‘we are our own worst enemies.’
