Scotts Valley home lights up for a good cause for 11th year in a row
Tucked away on Bean Creek Road in Scotts Valley is a home that lights up the sky every Christmas season.
Each year, Tim and Danielle Woods get to work in August to put on a show for everyone to enjoy the month of December.
They decorate their home with thousands of Christmas lights and decorations, some even synchronized to dance and move with Christmas music. They started this tradition 11 years ago after moving to their home at 2580 Bean Creek Road. They say when they lived in Soquel no one would drive by their home since in was at the end of a street, now with a new location they decided to go all out.
They say it’s the neighbors and kids that keep them going. “The people just appreciate it, and we like that and the kids,” says Tim Woods.
Danielle Woods says, “neighbors driving by while we’re setting up saying ‘thank you I’ve had a bad day and this puts a smile on my face when I come home’, that’s why we do.”Outside of the smiles, the Woods also collect canned food donations to bring to Valley Churches United each year. They have a bin at the bottom of their driveway where anyone passing by can bring canned food.
The home will be lit through January 2nd this year. Lights come on every night from about 4:30 p.m. to 10p.m. and 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
