Snowbound Southern California freeway reopened
UPDATE: 12/6/2018 3:30 p.m. Authorities have reopened a main north-south freeway in Southern California where snowfall stranded hundreds of cars.
The California Highway Patrol had closed Interstate 5 Thursday in the Grapevine area between Los Angeles and the San Joaquin Valley. The road was shut for several hours while snow was cleared away. Several big rigs skidded and blocked lanes during the snow.
The road was reopened in both directions Thursday afternoon.

Snow, ice and multiple accidents have caused the closure of Interstate 5 over the Grapevine in Southern California.
The California Highway Patrol said both directions of I-5 are shut down between Los Angeles and the San Joaquin Valley.
CHP reported several vehicles were sliding in lanes along the highway.
