Senator Kamala Harris of California to decide soon on 2020 Presidential run
Senator Kamala Harris of California could decide after the holidays whether or not she will run for President in 2020.
At the “Know Your Value” Conference in San Francisco on Saturday, Senator Harris told MSNBC’s Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski that it would ultimately be a family decision.
KION was at the conference at the Fairmont Hotel when Brzezinski asked the Democratic U.S. Senator what would help her decide whether she was going to run for President.
Harris said, “I’m very close to my family, all members of my family and it will ultimately be a family decision because let’s be honest, and you know more than most, it is going to be ugly. It’s going to be really ugly.”
Harris went on to say she mentors a lot of people, young men and women, and she found recently she needed to speak more about breaking barriers.
“So I look at them and say this thing about breaking barriers, I’m concerned you might think breaking barriers means you’re on this side of the barrier then you show up on that side of the barrier, and I’m like, no, there is breaking involved, and when you break things it is painful. You get cut and you bleed, and it will be worth it, but be very clear it will be and can be a very painful process and I say that not to scare anyone, but to prepare you, to prepare you for what is involved in breaking barriers and so it is a very serious decision and over the holiday I will make that decision with my family,” said Senator Kamala Harris.
KION’s Amanda Gomez spoke with Senator Harris about her appearance at the conference after she left the stage and KION will have the story at 10&11 p.m.
