One-on-one with Senator Kamala Harris at women empowerment conference
Senator Kamala Harris joined an impressive lineup of influential women business leaders, journalists, experts and Hollywood stars at the “Know your Value” conference in San Francisco Saturday.
The women all shared their stories and offered up advice to hundreds of women and some men in the audience.
KION’s Amanda Gomez caught up with Senator Harris moments after she took the stage.
KION asked Senator Harris how it felt to be at the event talking about important issues impacting women.
“It’s just a wonderful occasion for so many people who are leaders in their communities to come together under one roof and celebrate the diversity of who women are and it excites me that there are men and women in the audience all understanding that we should have these conversations about what it means to be a professional woman, we should have conversations about what it means to try and balance family with work, we should have conversations that are about the issues of our day and the fact that all issues are women’s issues and women’s issues are everyone’s issues,” said Senator Harris.
The women joined Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski to talk about a range of issues at the conference. They spoke about everything from how to get that promotion or raise at work, equal pay, harassment, mental health and how to have confidence.
“Confidence and talking about the need to know the need to know your value and know your worth and that is what I love about this conference, it’s all about knowing your value,” said Senator Harris.
And for the women on the Central Coast who couldn’t’t make it to this event.
“I think that listen there is so much that is happening in California, among women in the Central Valley, women up and down the state, who are doing the incredible work of raising families of lifting communities, of growing the economy of educating our children and I celebrate the women who are there who are really making a difference in the lives of so many people,” said Senator Harris.
The Know your Value Event sold out in its debut on the West Coast.
