Law officers arrest suspected Soledad kidnapping victim
UPDATE: 11/30/2018 12:36 p.m. An alleged kidnapping victim wanted for attempted murder was arrested in Fresno.
26-year-old Jorge Jasso of Soledad, was reportedly kidnapped on Oct. 22, the same day he was due in court.
According to the FBI and U.S Attorney’s Office, he’s being indicted for 3 counts of attempted murder, 1 count of conspiracy to commit murder and 1 count of conspiracy to commit murder with a deadly weapon.
“Although the incident was treated as an actual kidnapping and investigated as such, there was concern that it might have been fabricated by Mr. Jasso and other parties in an attempt for Jasso to avoid federal prosecution,” said Chief Eric Sills.
On Thursday, Nov. 29, members of the Fresno County Multi Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium were in the area of Ashland Avenue and Highway 41 when they spotted a white four door GMC pickup. Authorities believed Jasso was inside the vehicle and attempted to stop it.
The GMC turned a corner and collided with another car.
Police say after the crash, Jasso got out of the car and ran.
“After a brief foot pursuit, Mr. Jasso was safely taken into custody and found to be in possession of a loaded and concealed firearm,” said Chief Sills.
22-year-old Kimberly Herrera, 26-year-old Andres Ramirez and 23-year-old Hector Guerrero were also booked into the Fresno County Jail for a variety of charges ranging from felon in possession of a loaded gun and concealed firearm to possession of a machine gun.
