Tourists planning for more rain expected on the Central Coast
Tourists at Cannery Row in Monterey are bracing for more expected rainfall this week.
“We came walking along the bay trail and spend time outdoors and celebrating our anniversary, and now it’s going to rain,” said Jeanne Connolly, a visitor from the Bay Area who came with her husband, John.
“It’s kind of a little bit of a bummer,” said John Connolly. “We were going to do the 17-mile drive and do some beach trails, and now that probably won’t happen.”
Most people were happy about the wet weather.
“There’s been too many fires this year, so we really needed something like that to drench the landscape a bit,” said Jerry Wen, a Monterey resident. “Give the firefighters a chance to get things on an even keel, they need some rest.”
“I think that it’s been a year since we’ve had any good rains, so we’re desperately in need,” said Erica Harvill, who was visiting from Danville. “So even though it maybe puts a damper on the plans that people have, it’s totally worth it.”
Others say there are still plenty of things to see indoors.
“We also have the aquarium and other things you can do like the Pacific Grove Natural History Museum as well,” said Cristina Arden-Wen, a Monterey resident. “A lot of little local places that could also benefit even though it is raining.”
