Woman travels wrong way on Hwy 17, causes vehicle rollover

A wrong way DUI driver caused a major injury crash on Highway 17.

The accident happened on Thursday around 4:30 p.m. north of Mount Hermon Road.

The California Highway Patrol was called to multiple reports of a car driving southbound in the northbound lanes near Granite Creek Road.

While responding, the wrong way driver,40 -year-old Cristine Spindler of Los Angeles crashed into a 69-year-old Santa Cruz mans car.

The man tried to swerve to avoid hitting her but was unsuccessful. He was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

Spindler’s car rolled over. She only had minor injuries and was arrested for DUI.
